A Life Rooted in Avignon Pierre Parrocel emerged from a lineage of painters that stretched across generations, a family of artists whose presence was felt throughout the French provinces. Born in Avignon, he entered a world where the brush and the engraver's tool were part of his very inheritance. His early education began under the watchful eye of his uncle, Joseph Parrocel, a man known for capturing the energy of battle and the hunt.
This foundation provided him with more than just technical skill; it offered a connection to a long-standing artistic dynasty. The path of his development led him far from the Papal States of his birth. Seeking a broader perspective, he traveled to Rome, where he studied under Carlo Maratti.
