Early Life, Family and Training Born on April 7, 1860, in Douai, France, Henri Duhem was a man of two distinct lives. He was descended from an old Flemish family, a lineage that provided a sense of historical weight to his early years in the Nord department. Though he would eventually find his calling through the brush, his initial path was dictated by the structured world of law. He practiced as a lawyer, engaging with the formal rigo
