George Petrie
An Artist and Antiquarian of Ireland George Petrie was an Irish painter, musician, antiquarian, and archaeologist of the Victorian era. Born in Dublin, Ireland, he was the son of the portrait and miniature painter James Petrie. From a young age, he was educated as an artist at the Dublin Society's Schools, where he won a silver medal in 1805. Romantic painters of his era. Beyond his visual art, Petrie played a significant role in Irish history through several professional contributions: He worked producing sketches for engravings for various travel books.
