The Soul of a Painter Dezider Milly was far more than a mere practitioner of the brush; he was a profound representative of Ruthenian art in Slovakia, a man whose very identity was woven into the spiritual and cultural fabric of his heritage. Born in Kyjov, within the district of Stará Ľubovňa in what was then Austria-Hungary, Milly emerged from a spiritual family that likely nurtured the deep, contemplative essence found in his later w
orks. His journey as an artist was marked by a rigorous academic foundation, having studied at the Teacher's Seminar in Prešov before moving to the prestigious Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. It was within the halls of this academy, under the guidance of esteemed professors such as Schusser and Hofbauer, that his technical mastery began to coalesce with his unique cultural perspective.
