Early Life, Family and Training Thomas Heathfield Carrick entered the world on 4 July 1802, born in Upperby, near Carlisle in Cumberland. He was the son of Mary Anderson and John Carrick, a man whose occupation was variously recorded as a calico printer or a mill owner.
