A Life Shaped by the North Adrien Louis Demont began his life in Douai, France, where he first set out to study law. The path of a legal scholar, however, could not hold him for long. He found himself drawn instead to the brush and the canvas, seeking a different kind of truth through painting. His early training took place in his hometown, but his horizons expanded when he began working with Émile Breton.
