生い立ちと教育
サナット・クマール・カールは、インドを代表する画家であり版画家として、その名を歴史に刻みました。彼は1935年7月29日、インドの芸術の聖地シャティニケートンに生を受けました。その後、1955年にはコルカタの政府立美術工芸大学（Government College of Arts and Crafts）にて絵画のディプロマを取得し、その芸術的基礎を築き上げました。
キャリアの軌跡
カールは1960年代、ラリット・カーラ・アカデミーからの助成金に支えられながら、版画技法の研鑽を深めていきました。
1962年にはPrints Art Galleryにて初の個展を開催し、油彩画の才能を世に示しました。
1969年にはデリーのTriveni Kala Sangamにて、版画作品のみに焦点を当てた展覧会を開催しています。
1974年にはビシュヴァ・バラティ大学カラ・バヴァナのグラフィック・アート部門に講師として加わり、そこで木版凹版画（ウッド・イントリニョ）の実験的な探求を続けました。
