He moves through the Salon of 1824, recognized by Charles X as one of the forty-eight artists receiving official congratulations. By 1840, his influence extends to the local school of painting and sculpture, which he directs until 1872. His life becomes intertwined with the institutions of the Doubs region.
He accumulates honors, including the title of Chevalier of the Légion d'honneur in 1860. Yet, despite these institutional heights, his identity remains anchored to his birthplace. He returns to Lods, the same village where he began, passing away there in 1874.
