The trajectory of Grisoni’s career took a decisive turn toward the British Isles through his association with John Talman. Having met in Rome, Talman encouraged the artist to seek his fortunes in England, a suggestion that led Grisoni to London in 1715. During this period, he sought to establish himself within the competitive sphere of portraiture. While he did not achieve the lasting success required to remain in London permanently, his presence in the English art scene was marked by significant professional engagements.
His technical skill as a draughtsman opened doors to more specialized work. He found employment as an illustrator for the Society of Antiquaries, contributing to the visual documentation of the era. This period of his life was defined by a transition from the academic traditions of his training toward the practical demands of the English market. Later Years and Death
After his time in England, Grisoni returned to Italy in 1728. He transitioned from the life of a traveling artist to that of an educator, taking up a position teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts. His movements continued through the mid-century. In 1740, he briefly relocated to Pisa before eventually settling in Rome. It was in this city that he spent his final years, moving away from the transient life of a portraitist and illustrator toward the stability of the Roman art scene. He died in 1769.
