Mikuláš Galanda egy meghatározó szlovák festмűvész és illusztrátor, aki jelentős szerepet játszott az ország modern művészetének alakításában. 1895-ben született Szlovágiában, a Turčianske Teplice melletti Mala Ves falujában, és azóta is tartja magát a szlovák modern művészet egyik legfontosabb úttörőjének és terjesztőjének.
Galanda művészi utazása akkor indultక, amikor 1914 és 1916 között a budapesti Képzőműves Akadémián tanult. Később, 1922 és 1923 között a prágai Képzőműves, Építészeti és Design Akadémián szerezett tapasztalatot. Ezek a neves intézmények olyan szilárd alapot biztosítottak számára a művészet és a design terهén, amelyet később egyedülálló stílusában tudott kamaszítani.
Karrier és eredmények
Festőként és illusztrátorként Galanda 1924 és 1926 között szolgált a Dav magazin első grafikai szerkesztőjeként. Emellett Bratislava első leányiskolában is tanított, és 1929 és 1932 között Ľudovít Fulla munkatársként osztozott egy közös műterem használatában. 1930-ban ellátogzott Párizsba, majd Krakówban is rendezett kiállítást, ami tovább megszilárdította helyét a kortárs művészek körében.
