Rano djetinjstvo i obrazovanje

Sanat Kumar Kar, istaknuti indijski slikar i grafičar, rođen je 29. srpnja 1935. godine u Shantiniketanu, Indija. Svoje umjetničko obrazovanje i diplomu iz slikarstva stekao je 1955. godine na Government College of Arts and Crafts u Kolkati, postavljajući temelje za svoju buduću revolucionarnu karijeru.

Kar je svoje vještine grafičara počeo razvijati tijekom 1960-ih, uz podršku i stipendije koje mu je pružila Lalit Kala Akademi.

Njegova prva samostalna izložba održana je 1962. godine u galeriji Prints Art Gallery, gdje je predstavio svoje uljana radove.

Godine 1969. izlagao je u Delhiju u instituciji Triveni Kala Sangam, fokusirajući se isključivo na prezentaciju svojih grafičkih radova.
