Godine 1864. upisao je Akademiju likovnih umjetnosti San Carlos u Valenciji, dok je istovremeno nastavio raditi kao šešljari kako bi se sam uzdržavao.

Pinazova umjetnička karijera započela je oko 21. godine života, postigavši početni uspjeh u Barceloni tri godine kasnije.
Njegovo rano djelo fokusiralo se na konvencionalne povijesne teme, no dramatično se promijenilo nakon ključnog putovanja u Rim 1ms73. godine.
Ispiran putovanjima, prihvatio je slikanje obiteljskih motiva, aktova i scena iz svakodnevnog života – predvodeći stil umjetnika kao što su Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida i Francisco Domingo.
Drugi dugotrajni boravak u Rimu (1876.–1881.), financiran stipendijom, dodatno je usavršio njegov impresionistički pristup.
Razvio je stil prepoznatljiv po tamnim bojama – crnoj, smeđoj i zemljanim tonovima – uz blistavu paletu impresionizma, često koristeći brze poteze četkicom.
Glavna postignuća i priznanja
Pinazo je primao narudžbe od valencijske aristokracije, uključujući markizu od Benicarló.
Osvojio je srebrne medalje na umjetničkim izložbama 1881. i 1885. godine, nakon čega su uslijedile zlatne medalje 1887. i 1899. godine.
Nagrađen je kraljevskom medaljom za svoj umjetnički doprinos.
Godine 1912. grad Valencia ga je počastio nazvanjem jedne ulice u njegov čast.

Osobni život i obitelj
Pinazo se oženio za Teresu Martinez Montfort, te su imali dva sina, Ignacija i Josipa, koji su također postali slikari.
Privremeno se preselio u Béteru tijekom epidemije kolere u Valenciji 1884. godine, boraveći u vili “Maria” u vlasništvu bankara Josea Jaumandreua.
