      Tortuga azteca

      A turtle with a sun decorating its shell.Juarez make a reference to the pre-Hispanic past of the center of Mexico with the name of this sculpture and the lines that conform it. The lines are quite rigid and straight specially on the upper part of the shell and on the head. This part can easily be seen as a cubism reference rather than pre-Hispanic sculpture from Altiplano Central area. In consideration to the azteca name, the turtles for them were related to a religious context even being represented in mural painting, codices and at the point been found turtle shells on the Templo Mayor the center of Tenochtilan their capital city.Heriberto Juárez was a visual artist of national and international renown. He sculpts, paints and engraves but is widely known because for his sculptures.
