Paul Albert Besnard (1849–1934) seisoo ainutlaatuisena hahmona ranskalaisen taiteen kudelmassa, maalari, joka navigoi 1800-luvun lopun ja 1900-luvun alun muuttuvissa virtauksissa ainutlaatuisella, luokittelemattomalla sulavuudella.
