The Life of Egon Schiele Tulln, Lower Austria, provides the setting for the beginning of Egon Schiele’s life. Born on 12 June 1890, he enters a world defined by the rigid structures of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. His father, Adolf Schiele, manages the local station as the station master for the Austrian Federal Railways. His mother, Marie, is known by her maiden name, Soukup. Within the family, Egon grows alongside his three sisters:
