Galleria d'Arte Moderna Achille Forti (Verona, Italy)
The museum resides within Palazzo della Ragione – Verona’s iconic medieval building – creating a unique juxtaposition of eras and enhancing visitor experience.
Since 1967, the artistic production of Eugenio Degani (1923-2000) has been based on experimentation with plastic materials and their industrial derivatives. Through the technique of thermoforming, used since the 1950s to make containers and common objects, Degani creates sculptures in which he combines images of ancient art with ironic components of contemporary society. The artist carves his compositions onto matrices that he then places inside a plastic vacuum molding machine. A sheet of plastic material is heated and molded through the vacuum system onto the surface of the matrix.
