Delphin Enjolras byl francouzský akademický malíř, který se narodil v roce 1857 ve vesnici Courcouronnes v departementu Ardèche. Tento umělec, jehož cesta skončila v roce 1945 v Toulouse, byl synem Casimira Enjolrase a Delphine Laurens. Jeho umělecká pouť začala formální výpravou na École de dessin de la ville de Paris pod vedením akvaretisty Gastona Gérarda. Následně si dále zdokonaloval své schopnosti na prestižní École des Beaux-Arts, kde studoval u slavných mistrů, jako byli Jean-Léon Gérôme a Pascal Dagnan-Bouveret. Tato formativní léta položila pevné základy jeho nezaměnitelnému stylu.
Zpočátku se Enjolras soustředil především na krajinní malbu, ale brzy v sobě objevil hlubokou vášeň pro portrétování žen. Tento zvrat znamenal zlomový okamžik v jeho kariéencí. Stal se oslavovaným tvůrcem díky svým intimním zobrazením elegantních mladých žen zapřísněných do každodenních činností – ať už šlo o čtení, šití nebo prosté upojení do vlastních myšlenek. Klíčovou charakteristikou jeho díla je mistrovské využití světla, kdy často pracoval s osvětlením lampy nebo protisvětlem, aby vytvořil dramatickou a evokativní atmosféru.
Enjolrasovo dílo zahrnuje celou škálu obrazů, které projevují jeho technickou zdatnost i citlivost. Mezi nejvýznamnější příklady patří La Sieste, která je dokonalým příkladem jeho smyslného stylu, či Fête venitienne. Jeho práce často zkoumají témata ženskosti, volného času a tichých okamžiků každodenního života. Pro svou tvorbu využíval akvarely, olejné barvy i pastely.
Od roku 1890 Enjolras pravidelně vystavoval svou tvorbu na prestižním Pařížském salonu. V roce 1901 byl přijat do Société des Artistes Français, čímž si upevnil své postavení v rámci francouzského uměleckého establishmentu. Dnes lze najít příklady jeho malby v muzeálních sbírkách, jako jsou Musée du Puy nebo Musée d'Avignon.
Enjolras byl ovlivněn akademickými tradicemi svých učitelů, zejména Gérômeovým důrazem na realismus a detail. Přesto se mu podařilo vyvinout unikátní styl, který spojoval technickou přesnost s intimní a evokativní citlivostí. Ačkoliv nebyl tak široce uznáván jako někteří jeho současníci, Enjolras zanechal po sobě dílo, které stále okraje diváky svou krásou a šarmem. Jeho obrazy nabízejí pohled do života žen v kontextu Francie konce 1enc 19. a počátku 20. století, vykreslený s neuvěřitelnou dovedností a citem.
