Early Life and Artistic Training Ivor M Mackay was born in 1969, finding his roots in the Isle of Lewis, one of the Outer Hebrides in North West Scotland. His early years were shaped by the rugged, windswept landscapes of the Isle of Skye, a place where the weather and the sea are constant companions. This environment, defined by its shifting light and the raw power of the Atlantic, provided the first sketches of the scenery that would
later fill his canvases. The landscape of the Hebrides is not merely a backdrop for him; it is the very foundation of his perspective. To turn this connection to the land into a formal practice, he moved toward academic study. He attended the Edinburgh College of Art, where he focused on the fundamentals of his craft. In 1991, he earned his degree in drawing and painting. This period of study allowed him to refine his technical skill…
