The Life and Training of Carl Wurzinger Carl Wurzinger was born in Vienna on 1 June 1817. He grew up in a household where his father worked as a caretaker for an estate. This early environment provided the backdrop for a life that would eventually move from the quiet management of land to the structured halls of the Academy of Fine Arts. At the age of fourteen, in 1832, he entered the Academy to begin his formal studies. His training
was marked by a steady progression through the academic system. He spent his formative years learning the technical foundations of his craft, focusing on the discipline required for history painting. By 1844, he was ready to show his work to the public, exhibiting his first pieces during that year.
