Jules Joseph Lefebvre se v historii francouzského umění devatenáctého století vznáší jako zářivá postava; byl to malíř, jehož štětec disponoval vzácnou schopností zachytit nejen fyzickou dokonalost lidské formy, ale i hluboký pocit éterické něhy.
