Narodil se v tichém městečku Chambersburg v Pensylvánii, Daniel Ridgway Knight, a vydal se na neobyčejnou uměleckou odysei, která ho nakonec dovedla daleko od jeho kvakerských kořenů, přímo do samotné duše francouzského uměleckého světa.
