Sanat Kumar Kar, významný indický malíř a grafik, se narodil 29. července 1935 v indickém Shantiniketan. Své umělecké vzdělání dokončil v roce 1955 získáním diplomu z malířství na Government College of Arts and Crafts v Kalkutě.
